Synthesis of O-(4-bromo)-phenyl-N-(9’-acridinyl)-hydroxylamines
A mixture of 75 moles of molten phenol (PhOH) will be prepared. The product synthesized in the last step would be added with a 3:2 ratio in comparison to 9-chloroacridine. The solution would be then stirred for 6 hours from 80-100°C. The solution will then be cooled and then added to 50 mL of CH2Cl2. Next, this solution and 0.1 M sodium hydroxide (100 mL NaOH per 1 mol PhOH) were added to a separatory funnel. The remaining solution would be dried by anhydrous MgSO4 and then gravity filtered. The product would be then concentrated using a rotary evaporator.
